 2011 SEASONAL FLU CAMPAIGN

We are now at the end of our 2011 seasonal flu vaccine campaign. If you are eligible for a vaccination, and have not done so yet, please speak to a member of our reception team.

As with previous years, those over the age of 65, have a chronic diease (including diabetes and COPD amongst others), those who are immuno-suppressed, asthmatics (on regular inhalers) and carers are entitled to the flu vaccination.  If you are unsure, please ask at reception.  It is best to check first, rather than attend an appointment and be turned away.  As always, our priority is to vaccinate those most at risk.

DNA's (Did not attend)

In November 2011, we recorded 121 patients who failed to attend their appointments with the Doctor or Nurse.  This is an extremely large number of appointments.  We now have the automated telephone system which allows you to check and/or cancel your appointments.  You do not need to wait for us to be here to do it!

PLEASE contact the surgery by telephone using the automated system or by dropping in to cancel the appointment if you are unable to attend.  Alternatively you can log into EMIS Access and cancel your appointment online.  We can then offer these appointments to other patients.

'PATIENT PARTNER'

In March this year, we introduced an automated telephone system known as 'Patient Partner'.  The automated system allows you to book appointments with Doctors (only) or check and / or cancel your appointment with any memeber of the Practice - even when we are closed!

Our telephone number ramins the same, 020 8951 3888.  When you call the surgery (during opening hours or when we are closed) you will be greeted with our Practice message, and prompts to guide you through the system.

You will be asked to identify yourself by your date of birth and telephone number.  Please ensure that we have your up to date telephone number (this is the number which you will use to identify yourself on the system).  We are currently working through all of our patient records to ensure that the most recent number you have given us is in your identification records.  If your number changes, please advise a member of our reception team.  If we do not have your most recent number on our system, we will not be able to identify you and therefore, on that occasion you will be unable to use the system.  Please advise our reception team if this occurs, and we can update your records accordingly allowing you full access next time you call the surgery.

We hope this will aloow ease of access to make (and cancel!) your appointments with the Doctors, and check or cancel your appoints with the rest of our clinical team.

If you have any problems with the system, or any comments, please forward these to Vikki Young IT Manager.

EMIS ACCESS (online appointment booking and prescription requests)

EMIS have notified us that they have made improvements to their EMIS ACCESS website.  The layout is more "user friendly" and they report that it should be easier to access during busier periods.

If you do experience problems logging into EMIS Access please try logging in again at another time.  If after 3 failed attempts at logging in a different times you are still unable to get onto the Access website, please register your details again (i.e. create your account again).  We have found that most of the time, you are able to re-register rather than having to contact us at the surgery to have your details cancelled and reissued.  This of course is far more convenient for you!  If this process fails, please do not hesitate to contact the surgery.

Please remember that we DO NOT keep any of these details on your records.  They are issued to you for your safe-keeping.  Your password is of personal choice, and again, we will be unable to prompt a reminder to you on this for confidentiality reasons.  Should you forget/loose your password then please contact us at the surgery, where again we will need to issue you new login details.

FEES FOR NON-NHS WORK

Please be advised that our fees for all non-nhs work (for example completion of insurance claim forms and certification of holiday vaccinations) have increased.  The new fees will be effective from Monday 1st March 2010.  This is the first time we have reviewed our fees in 3 years.  All fees are in accordance with BMA guidelines.  Please see reception for further information & pricing.

KEEPING YOUR DETAILS UP TO DATE

Over recent months, we have been encountering increasing problems with trying to contact some patients by telephone. This is usually because the number is no longer available, or perhaps that we have the wrong telephone number recorded in your medical records. Furthermore, we have also noticed an increasing number of patients not accepting 'anonymous' calls. This can cause a problem as the Surgery's outgoing lines are all anonymous numbers. If you do want to leave a message for a member of the team to call you back, and you know you have a block on anonymous callers, please leave us a number on which we can reach you directly. This will ensure there are no delays in responding to your queries.

Please notify us of any changes to your address and/or phone number to ensure we are always able to reach you!
