How Do I...
Make An Appointment?
All consultations are by appointment only. Appointments can be made by telephone or by coming into the surgery during opening hours.
The receptionist will endeavour to offer you a convenient appointment with the doctor or nurse of your choice but, if unable to do so, will suggest an alternative time or another doctor at either of our surgeries.
Although you are registered with a specific doctor, you are free to consult with any doctor or nurse of your choice.
When booking your appointment online or at the Surgery, in order that your visit is dealt with as effectively as possible we ask that you take care in who you book your appointment with (i.e. medication reviews are carried out by the Nurse and NOT the GP). Please refer to section 'Who to See' for full information.? If you are unsure, please ask a Receptionist who will gladly help and advise you
Same Day / Urgent Appointments
If you need to be seen urgently, please call the surgery before 10.30am. The receptionist will take details of your call and the duty doctor will telephone you. If they are unable to deal with your problem on the telephone, they will advise you of when to come to the surgery. If it is decided that you need to be seen on the same day, the doctor may refer you to our nurse practitioner who is available every weekday morning at Crowshott Avenue.
Appointment Availability / 48 Hour Access Appointments
It is usual to receive a non-urgent routine appointment at the surgery within 1 week. However, we would like to make you aware that we have a LIMITED number of routine appointments throughout the day released 48 hours in advance. These appointments are available on a first come first serve basis at both Crowshott Avenue and William Drive. The receptionists WILL look for these appointments first, so if you are not offered anything within 48 hours, it is likely that these have already been booked. We SHALL BE continuing with our morning same day telephone advice and triage, and our Nurse Practitioner appointments for anything URGENT.
Appointments with the Doctors
We understand that some patients like to routinely see a particular doctor. We always do our very best, however, this may not always be possible and you may be offered an appointment with an alternative doctor. Please be reassured that all our Doctors are committed to providing the highest possible care and service to you at all times.
Checking In For Your Appointment
We have an electronic booking-in system in the waiting room at both surgeries. This allows you to book yourself in for your appointment without having to wait at the desk to see the receptionists. Once you have booked yourself in, you may take a seat in the waiting room and wait to be called.
